Mireo Looks to Future With Unveiling of GPS Navigation for Electric Vehicles at IAA
(PRWEB UK) 14 September 2011
Navigation technology provider Mireo http://www.mireo.hr has unveiled it’s electric car-specific navigation system at this year’s IAA motor show in Frankfurt. DON’T PANIC Electric was developed in cooperation with a leading Indian car manufacturer and Croatian electric car manufacturer DOK-ING. DON’T PANIC Electric features real-time system monitoring and communications and a fully integrated map display that shows driving range info, battery charge level and the location of charging stations. The system can be viewed and tested in the DOK-ING Electric Car which is being currently being presented at the IAA motor show in Frankfurt.
Specially Designed for Electric Vehicles
DON’T PANIC Electric is designed to work optimally with electric vehicles. It is wired to the vehicle’s monitoring systems and consumes less power than other conventional in-car GPS navigation systems while delivering industry-leading performance.
“Our extensive experience with in-car navigation was crucial in the development of the DON’T PANIC Electric navigation system for electric cars.” says Mireo technology chief Ivica Siladić. He adds,“We’ve created a navigation system that flawlessly communicates with both the electric car and it’s driving environment. This means that drivers can feel totally secure and confident behind the wheel of their battery-powered vehicles.”
Electric Vehicles Are Not Just Cars
With an eye to the future, Mireo is developing an onboard GPS Navigation system for another type of electric vehicle that uses two wheels instead of four.
“We think there’s big growth potential for the DON’T PANIC Electric GPS navigation system in cars, but there is also a demand for this type of system on increasingly popular electric bicycles.” states CEO Leonardo Siladić and adds, “Just like drivers, electric bike riders need know where they’re going, how much power they have in their battery and where the nearest charging station is. This type of GPS Navigation integration will become a necessity for most electric bike commuters.”
DON’T PANIC Electric GPS Navigation Features
In addition to its electric vehicle-specific elements, DON’T PANIC Electric features industry-leading routing speeds and precision, a search interface that supports partial entries and typos, full local language and writing system support, a seamless map display and full touch gesture support.
About Mireo
Mireo specialises in the development of telematics technologies and navigation and geo-information solutions. With over a decade of experience in the navigation business, the company is looking to the future by developing electric and alternative fuel vehicle GPS navigation systems as well as its DON’T PANIC navigation app for smartphones.

Electric bicycles are preferred by more and more people nowadays. We should not only to know the benefits brought by electric bicycles; we should also know the basic structure of an electric bike. This article will give you s guide on the basic structure of electric bicycles.
Electric bicycles from the body, electric drive unit (motor), rechargeable batteries, charger and control system has five major components. Different types of vehicles, the battery placement location, and other forms of control are different.
Control system: control system design has several protection features such as power display, wireless speed, soft start, under voltage protection, over current protection and braking power and so on. Protect the motor and battery, the controlled output current can produce the required power, not burn out the motor. At present, the development of electric bicycles, most of the manual speed control knob is determined from the line power supply mode.

Rechargeable batteries: batteries for electric bikes are mainly three types, namely small sealed maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, nickel cadmium batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries, small sealed lead-acid battery maintenance-free, low cost, large capacity, widely used by domestic enterprises.
Electric drive unit (motor): electric bicycle electric drive means roughly into three categories:
1. Friction drive type; 2. Axis driven; 3. Electric Wheel. As electric drive Wheel is small, light weight, low energy consumption and efficiency advantages of comparison, the current domestic electric bicycles are mostly that way.
Brushless motor and the motor is divided into two types of brush motors. Brushless motor is mainly low speed high torque motor, no transmission gear, to avoid mechanical wear, running in almost no noise, but the brushless motor starting current impact of large, complex control systems. Wheel brush motor using advanced technology to improve brush life, high efficiency motor, control system, a simple electronic circuit.
Charger: charger designed with constant current, constant voltage, float three-stage automatic conversion mode, the battery to produce a protective, effectively extend battery life.
Body: As the national standards for electric bicycles a top speed of 20 km, no special requirements on the body, usually the same with the bike, riding with human features.

Electric Bike Tire Burnout and Blowout x5304 front hub motor, Lyen 65amp controller, 72 volts
Crystalyte x5304 front hub motor with a Lyen 24FET 65amp controller, 72 volts from six 12 volt SLA batteries – Electric Bike Tire Burnout and Blowout in my garage. Highest wheel speed was 57 MPH. Peak current was 107 amps after the tire blew. Average current was 55 amps at wheel speed of 32 MPH. The tire was worn out and needed to be replaced, so I figured I would have some fun with it. I did. (The rim is being replaced too).

Leading Electric Bike Dealer, NYCeWheels Develops Highly Compact Folding Electric Bike
Leading Electric Bike Dealer, NYCeWheels Develops Highly Compact Folding Electric Bike
New York City (PRWEB) February 10, 2011
NYCeWheels, an industry leader in both folding bikes and electric bikes, has just released an electric version of the Brompton folding bike.
The Brompton electric bike, is the creation of Bert Cebular, electric bike specialist and founder of NYCeWheels. Cebular says, “Pairing a powerful electric hub-motor with one of the world’s best folding bikes seemed only natural. We developed the Brompton electric bike in response to the demand for an electric folding bike portable enough to take anywhere.”
The Brompton electric bike is part of NYCeWheels’ continued effort to offer highly portable, well made, and reliable personal transportation solutions. Part of what makes the Brompton electric bike unique is how compact it can be folded. All the electrical components are integrated seamlessly into the original Brompton design, touted as the most compact in the world.
Though the electric Brompton folding bike is primarily offered as a ready to ride electric bicycle, NYCeWheels also builds custom electric kits which can be installed on any model Brompton. While electric kits for the Brompton folding bike have existed in Europe for several years, and Brompton itself is developing its own electric folding bike, the NYCeWheels electric kits take a different approach. Notably, more power and speed.
European designed kits have typically centered on pedelec activation (a motor triggered by the rotation of the pedals) and motor speeds around 15mph. The NYCeWheels electric Brompton folding bike kit, which is entirely throttle operated, has a more powerful motor and a higher capacity battery. This allows its riders to travel up to 20 miles on a charge at speeds up to 20 miles per hour. The kit also comes fully customizable with a variety of options to suit the customer’s individual needs.
Brompton electric folding bike features:
Light weight – 20lbs lighter than the average electric bike
Compact – Folds smaller than any other electric bike
Electric powered – Energy efficient Lithium batteries
Handcrafted – Fully customizable
Contact NYCeWheels for more information or to order your Brompton electric bike. To see the bike in action watch NYCeWheels’ Brompton electric bike video.
